WEAPONS
The M-1 semi-automatic rifle, or Garand rifle, was the standard rifle
carried by an infantryman during WWII. The 1903 Springfield
rifle may be used if that is all you have available but the M-1
is preferred. Specialized weapons such as the M-1 carbine, or
1911A 1 automatic pistol will not be used unless authorized by
the platoon commander. One Browning Automatic rifle (BAR) is
authorized for each rifle squad. If we have more than one BAR per
squad, so much the better. Generally, as with WWII infantry
companies, the standard weapon was an M-1 Garand and that’s
the minimum weapon we expect our membership to possess. Again,
even if the entire rifle is not war-dated, the purchase of a few
WWII-era parts can give an M-1 the proper WWII look, as some
items, such as the rear sight, among others, changed after
WWII.
